The Legend of Korra: The Equalist Revolution

Crisis Director: Dani Bhashyam (dkb79@cornell.edu)

CHAIR: Akshika Chawade (aac225@cornell.edu)

Earth. Fire. Air. Water. These are the four nations in the world, and the Avatar, master of all four elements, is responsible for keeping balance in the world. With Avatar Aang’s passing, the new Avatar, Korra of the Southern Water Tribe, has come of age. However, she comes face to face with the biggest threat to peace since the Hundred Years’ War: the Equalist Revolution. Amon, a mystical figure with the power to take away bending, has amassed a loyal following of non-benders disillusioned by the current establishment of benders. They threaten to take over Republic City, and eventually remove bending from all to build a society where everyone is equal. So, the governments of the world, along with other influential people, have assembled to find a way to stop this threat. It is up to them to find a way to stop the violent takeover of Amon, while also addressing the concerns of the Equalists in a way that can lead to long-term peace.

Harry Potter: The First Wizarding War

Crisis Director: Surya Nawiana (ksn26@cornell.edu)

CHAIR: Linda Fu (zf236@cornell.edu)

Dark forces are building within the Wizarding World. The year is 1970 and Voldemort has openly declared himself as the Dark Lord in open rebellion against the Ministry of Magic. Already, Voldemort and his legions of forces have intensified attacks on Muggle-borns in Britain, opening an era of bloodshed in the Wizarding World. In response, Albus Dumbledore has summoned wizards and witches, you among them, to form The First Order of the Phoenix. This committee, composed of the most skilled magical minds of the era, aims to combat the dark forces rising under Voldemort’s command. As chaos spreads and fear mounts throughout the world, this committee faces the arduous task of protecting both the Magic and Muggle-world. Shall you succumb to the dark forces or defend your people? Should the Muggle-world be openly protected? The Order must face these questions all while contending with the pervasive fear and mistrust infiltrating the ranks. Tread carefully and keep your wands at the ready; the fate of the Wizarding World is in your hands.

Settlers of Catan: Council of the Governors

Crisis Director: Avanish Aravind (aa2476@cornell.edu)

CHAIR: TBD (TBD@cornell.edu)

The explorers called it the most beautiful place they'd ever seen, an expansive uninhabited island filled with natural resources. They called it Catan; now, you call it home. As the governors of the first groups to move to Catan, you've already built your first towns and have your sights set on further development. However, there is much to be discussed to keep the island from devolving into chaos, which is why you have all gathered at the first Council of the Governors. Incorporating elements of the classic board game by Klaus Teuber, this crisis committee explores the dynamics of developing and governing the island of Catan, all while dealing with the challenges of creating your future home. The explorers promised a new paradise, but it rests in your hands to create one.
